Percy Jackson
Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan is one of the best series I have ever read. This series brings Greek mythology into modern times. These books are great for fourth graders to high schoolers. I remember when I was in fourth grade waking up at 4:00 a.m., splashing water on my face to make sure that I wouldn't fall asleep, because, well, at 4:00 a.m. you should go to bed but, well, as you might realize, if you are reading a phenomenal book, you simply cannot put it down. I am now in seventh grade, and there is a new follow up series by Rick Riordan called The Heroes of Olympus and it's like deja vu, you cannot put it down. These books are a mix of a comedy and action. The characters, you care about, and the action is so great that you feel like you are at a 3D movie. Everything Rick Riordan writes comes to life on the page. Here's his website. His new book, called The Son of Neptune, will be coming out October 4, 2011. There is still time to read all the books before then.

Hey! I luv ur blog!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I remember reading Percy Jackson too! That was a really good book, just like your blog describes, I couldn't put it down!
ReplyDeleteSo, that new books comes out TODAY??? Sweet! My daughters did exactly what you did - stayed up all night reading these books. I like how they weave in Greek myths and modern problems. I was a totally mythology geek when I was in middle school - Greeks, Romans, Norse, Native American - it wasn't until later that I became fascinated with Asian stories, too -
ReplyDeleteI made his web URL a live link in your post. I can show you how to do that for the future - it's cleaner as some of those URLs are long and make no sense.
Are you going to the bookstore soon?
